The dynamic world premiere of Accumulation is a transcontinental performance project by Co.ERASGA Dance, in collaboration with participating artists from the United States (New York), Canada and France. Body, dance, movement, sound, costumes, sculpture and visual objects were all components in the making of this unique live performance event.

This timely and creative production aims to fuse a hybrid of multiple disciplines to create a new performance perspective and experience.

Accumulation is a creative venture that speaks to the challenges of art and environmental stewardship. Can we raise and push our minds, resources, practices and concerns to attune our creativity and respond to our alarming and devastating fragile ecology? 

The piece seeks to question our human relational, place, and time on environmental concerns presently faced by an alarming future never witnessed before in our natural world.

The project sets human-made objects, debris and nature’s remnants to represent our surroundings, an encounter of our human consumption and excess. Centre stage is the deterioration of the natural world, a landscape for a hunting, moving dance and sculptural choreography.

In Accumulation, the assemblage, association, manipulation, contemplation and recycling of ‘stuff’ stirs the creative and artist’s consciousness which becomes our realization and response to an earthly crisis.

23 years ago, award-winning choreographer Alvin Erasga Tolentino paid homage to the cycle and distress of nature in his first full-length work Sola. Now, in celebration of the 23rd season of Co.ERASGA, Alvin takes dance to an even deeper level of awareness in this performance journey.

La première mondiale dynamique d'Accumulation est un projet de performance transcontinental de Co.ERASGA Dance en collaboration avec les artistes participants de New York et de France. Ce projet créatif et opportun vise à fusionner l'hybridité de plusieurs disciplines vers une perspective et une expérience de la performance. Corps, danse, mouvements, sons, costumes, sculptures et objets visuels en devenir et à vivre pour la scène.

L'accumulation répond et défie l'aventure créative vers l'art et la gérance de l'environnement. Pouvons-nous élever et pousser des esprits créatifs, des ressources, des pratiques et des préoccupations pour adapter notre créativité à des écologies fragiles alarmantes et dévastatrices ?

La pièce cherche à interroger notre relationnel humain, lieu et temps sur les préoccupations environnementales face à un avenir alarmant jamais vu auparavant pour notre monde naturel.

 Le projet définit les objets fabriqués par l'homme, les débris et les vestiges de la nature comme notre environnement, une rencontre de nos consommations et excès humains. La détérioration du monde naturel est mise en scène, un paysage pour une chasse, une danse émouvante et une chorégraphie sculpturale.

Dans Accumulation, l'assemblage, l'association, la manipulation, la contemplation et le recyclage de choses agitent la conscience des créateurs et des artistes en devenant nos réalités à une crise terrestre.

 Il y a 23 ans, le chorégraphe primé Alvin Erasga Tolentino rendait hommage au cycle et à la détresse de la nature dans son premier long métrage Sola. Maintenant, célébrant la 23e saison de Co.ERASGA, il amène la danse à un autre vol en créant Accumulation comme un voyage de performance confrontant une prise de conscience encore plus profonde envers la gérance de l'environnement.
